Comments on that, from you expert guys?

You want a FWD output, so that wouldn't work for the 818. Then there's the issue of it not fitting into the car as it's currently laid out. Personally if I were to use an STi for the donor I'd sell the 6 speed and buy a 5 speed and get the LSD diff while I'm at it...then you're all set for a transmission. I'm personally not concerned with the durability of the 5 speed, and there are always other gearsets available if that is a concern. Also I think the 6 speed gears wouldn't be ideal either...you don't need them that close ratio for the power:weight involved, especially with an EJ257 moving it along.

Yeah I guess I should through out that idea of a 6-sp and concentrate my efforts on a somewhat custom ratioed 5-sp with LSD. I've read a thread here with all the ratios available and which parts to swap in.

Thing is, I don't know the effects of a car that light. So that's a complete unknown variable for me.
I think you're right, I don't want to spend 5k on the tranny either. :) Or get a 6-sp that would not be well suited in terms of ratios. I also ditched the idea of having an STI as a donor, unless I find one for a cheap price.

tnx for your input. :)

Hopefully that'll clear things up for others thinking of a 6-sp or STI as a donor (there's another thread on that).
