Put my motor and trans in and had my first start last week and just noticed i have a small oil leak coming from the rear seal. Now i hate leaks of any kind and i thought i was carefully replacing the seal but i guess not. I searched the FFCars site but the posts i found were for the older MK2 and MK3 and every one had a different method. Has anyone done this on a MK4? 1991 5.0 EFI stock 5 spd Transmission. Thanks in advance guys

The same steps taken for the MKIII would apply for the MKIV also.

I did a transmission removal last summer on a late MKII. I used the procedures stated by the various forum members who had done it before me.
After that experience I came to the conclusion that its better and faster to just remove the engine and transmission.

After looking at the old posts and calculating the time it took to just pull the transmission and the fact you would be working on your back the whole time, i have no body on the car so i think i will just pull the motor and tranny together.
