The plan is MkIV, 450 hp, tremec 5sp, mainly used for daytrips on rough Norhtern Ca roads. My question is if I go with the 3 link am I ( and more importantly my passenger wife) going to wish I had sprung for the IRS. What do you think?

IRS will ride better on rough road surfaces due to the reduced unsprung weight. If you are primarily looking for a nice cruiser you would be much better off with the IRS.

I have spoken to someone who has driven a lot of different FFR roadsters for long distances. His opinion is that in the short run you won't tell much difference in handling, but if you go several hundred miles, the IRS won't beat you to pieces. I run IRS in my MK3 and I don't know any different, but it seems to ride well.

Hands down the IRS rides much better than the 3 link

I'v built and driven both. The differance in the two is night and day, IMO. The IRs is so much smoother and easier to drive, it's amazing. I would never build another street kit without IRS.

Thanks guys that helps a bunch. Sounds like an obvious vote for the IRS, that's the way I'll go. It helps to check with people that have experienced both scenarios.
