The brake lines include different threaded fittings on each end. What is the reason for this?
Also, should I use locktite when I tighten the fittings?
thanks

Some of ther fittings are for "line-to-line", others are for connecting to the master cylinder. No locktite, or any other stuff.

I think you'll find that the threads of the fitting nuts are the same on both ends but one nut is longer on each line. For our purposes it doesn't matter and there is no right or wrong end for the long vs. short nut. You can give the threads and face of the flare a drop of brake fluid to serve as lube if you wish but otherwise the lines go together dry. They do not seal on the threads but rather on the flare.

Asked this question to an old time parts guy recently. He said the different length nut ends are for different manufactures brake caliper depths. Sometimes you need to use the long end to reach the threads. In our case either end is fine.
