View Full Version : What was left off?
So after reading through the open house threads and looking at the pictures it appears that a number of things were left off the car. Specifically a muffler, inner wheel wells, a very spartan interior, ect. I know they went to great lengths to meet their goal of 1800 lbs, and this is meant to be an elemental sports car, but did they leave stuff off on purpose or are these items not meant to be on there? Were there other items missing that I missed?

I think they probably left some things off simply because they ran out of time.

They added stuff that they didn't need to as well, every carbon piece added weight. The aluminum that they didn't install weighs squat... the 818 is an approximate weight, if you want to get there you can do it, everyone needs to move on please.
Who needs a muffler, the cat seemed to perform well... My plan was executed exactly...
These are kit cars, very individual to each owner, different goals, capabilities, budgets etc...

I will let the final answer come from FFR, but the interior looks very similar to the other vehicles in their line. We the builders have added many things to the other models (cup holders, door panels, glove boxes, etc.) to make them look more civilized, above and beyond what the kit offers. I believe that what was shown on Saturday is what was planned, nothing less.

The Sema 818S had basic vinyl door cards and looked much more finished, raising expectations

I wasn't at the open house, but I also noticed that from the videos posted, the blue R was much louder than the white S. Pretty noticeable muffling for such a short exhaust with only a cat. Can any of you who were there comment on the noise level of the S? Reasonable for a dd street car?

I understand that we can build the car to whatever finish level we want my question was what might be included in the kit that was left off of the car shown.

If you go to the FFR site and look under what you get for the 818 kit it may answer your questions. IMO.

Right, and "upholstered interior door panels" is on the list!

I'm thinking the wheel well panels were left out to help show off the suspension and details to the spectators. If it had mattered enough, FFR could have made the weight but it's not a boxing match. So it didn't really matter if it was exactly 1800 lbs. IMO, WEK.

The complete exhaust was on the S, there are two cats and a turbo to quiet it down. The R had only the turbo as the muffler. The S sounded aggressive but by no means was it the least bit "loud". The only parts left off the S to my knowledge was the rear tire splash panels (less than 2lbs worth) and the optional rear carbon diffuser.
