After getting the MkIV body back from the painter last week, spent the time getting the underside coated with bedliner, installing the painted side vents and finishing up any little thing that needed to be done on the chassis. Took Jeff Kleiner suggestion and got a couple of pieces of 2.25" x 2.25" a/c foam and trimmed and glued them to the footwell sides. This was definitely a better option than using the expansion foam that came with the kit. I took a black large tip Magic Marker and colored the edge just so it wouldn't be so visible from the inside of the car.

Took advantage of a Father's Day cookout yesterday and got everyone to come to my house and help lift the body back on the chassis. Took less that two minutes and we were done. The great thing about having already fitted the bumpers, latches, door, hood, trunk, windshield, etc. is that they go on so much easier. I don't think the final assembly will take more than a month.

Oh man... that is looking so nice. You will definitely have something to be proud of when you're done - this build has truly raised the bar once again for FFR builds when it comes to traditional, clean looks.

Thanks Chris!
I had planned on going with a "street" look from the first time I considered the FFR roadster. So far, so good.
I have always enjoyed the building aspect of the project more than the driving but don't get me wrong, I am definitely looking forward to getting the car out on the road.
Hopefully the rest of the build will go smoothly but as we all know, that is unlikely!!LOL!

Ron-

Terrific looking build! I really like the color, and the paint job is really wonderful. I bet you can smell the finish line now, huh?

Good luck wrapping things up, and please post plenty of graduation pictures to show off that awesome build quality!

Regards,

Steve

Thanks again guys.

I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel now. Have to take the hood hinges and the three aluminum panels that surround the radiator to the powder coater on Monday which will slow me up a little. I was able to install and fit the windshield by myself but now that the body is painted, will wait until I can get some help to avoid scratching the paint. As long as I can get the doors to fit as well as they did before I removed the body for paint, I will be in good shape.
