So after the long wait my cobra finaly came in yesterday! Already did the inventory last night and can't wait to take the body off this weekend. I'm gonna have acouple of my Soldiers come over to help me out (offer free beer and food to Soldiers and they come running). Any advice before I take the first step? 18368183691837018371

If the Mk 4 body and aluminum are similar to the Mk 3 (only messed with one Mk 4 so not sure) it is advised to mark the aluminum where it is close/touches the underside of the body so when you remove the body you can trim the aluminum. This is done so when the bulb seal is pressed onto the aluminum edge you have the proper room for the seal to compress and not have the aluminum cut through. Just take a Sharpie, rest it on the body and drag it along the aluminum panels in the trunk, foot box, etc. Anywhere it leaves a line, trim it off.
HTH and enjoy the build!

After the body comes off, you'll start removing the aluminum panels, but mark them before your remove them. Mark which panel / tab overlaps the other and mark the backside of the panels, where the frame is so you know where to drill.
Congratulations! They are a LOT of fun to build and drive!
and THANKS for your service! :D

Have someone take your picture sitting in it while you're holding the steering wheel before you pull the body off, then post it here!!!
Congratulations on the delivery - enjoy the journey, too.

Huge congrats and welcome! Thanks for your service and don't hesitate to call with any questions, problems, or fun reports. This weekend we are celebrating our 16th Annual Open House. Without your support and that of others like you we would not be here. Have fun on the build and keep the crew informed. I'll send this link over to our webmaster, Mad Dog and throw it up on FB. Thanks again!

Congratulations!!!! What an awsome day delivery day is!!
As stated above, take pictures of what panel is on top of the other. I pulled my pictures of the drivers footbox top up JUST THIS WEEK. 17 months later.
Taking the body off is easy. My wife, who is not very big, and I did it ourselves. You won't need a whole platoon unless you bought a lot of beer that you need to get rid of. It will be a lot of fun pulling the really cool parts out and getting the ooohs and aaaahs. How manys cars can you say "Here is the gas cap" and just about get cheers from the crowd?
...and a Congrats from Dave himself. FFR is such a cool family to belong to.

Even before you remove the body, check for fit of the aluminum panels where they come in contact with the body. These would be the panel to the left and right of the trunk, The front of the trunk and back of the passenger compartment, and firewall. These are the panels that will be excepting the bulb type weather stripping.
You will want 3/8" between the panel and the body to allow from room for this weather stripping. Only takes a couple of min to lay a Sharpie marker on the underside of the body and trace along the aluminum panel. You can then remove the body and cut the panels later.
