I'm leaning toward the ISIS power mgt module system and selling off the Ron Francis chassis harness with the kit.

Its a bit of money, but looks to be the slick set up way to go. I've done my research, spoke with Jay Harris and am impressed with their level of service... Unless you all can talk me off the ledge, i'm thinking i'll pull the trigger.

Thoughts?

I have their original system in my MK3 and the present system in my 33 Hotrod. Space is limited on the 33. I have the front power cell and master cell under the dash. The other power cell is in the trunk. Very crowded under the dash. If I did it again I would put the master cell behind the front seat. The system is a bit of an overkill but if you like the latest technology it's great. Wiring is a snap and great technical support.

I'm right in the middle of an install. I wanted the touch screen, inTOUCH MAX. I will have no buttons in the car, control of everything including the hvac. I have used the painless on 2 other builds.

For something small and basic, with no intentions of the touch screen, maybe not??

I like it, love the tech. He's now got the inNET, wich give you control from anything with a web broser. I think I'll stick to the hard wired screen, instead of relying on WI-FI.

Thanks Chuck,

Yes after speaking to Jay he suggested the same... Powercell in trunk, master in centre console or behind seat and other powercell just left of the ac unit beside the pedal box.... Maybe if no a/c there may be more room.

I want to add some comfort items like power suicide door pins which could double as power locks, amp and sub etc and some security. It'd seem it may be a bit over kill in deed, but i was a bit disappointed in the stock harness after having done the wiring at the build school... Quite a nest... Hard to imagine how best to clean it all up.

After talking with Jay I'm leaning towards the inTouchNET with a Kenwood head unit. I originally planned to put the inTOUCH MAX in but I liked the additional value of having the Kenwood head unit.

This may be a dumb question, how will the kenwood head integrate?

Kenwood's new DNN990HD is a navigation receiver with WiFi. So the inTouch NET and the Kenwood talk to each via Wifi if I understood Jay from ISIS correctly. And if you are a tech junky you can even control the car functions from your smart phone. Apparently this new Kenwood unit was just released a couple of months ago.

More info here:

And here:

Hope this helps.

if you do go with ISIS it is recommended that you also get inReserve. It will save your battery and adds another level of security.

Is the Kenwood head hard wired to the ISIS or dependent on the WIFI for connectivity?

I am building a Mk 4 roadster and decided to use ISIS on it. From what I can see there are not that many ISIS wired mk 4 roadsters around. I would need a way to hide and secure the head when the car is not occupied.

It is not hard wired, Jay is working on that with them. You do not need the 990 to use the intouchnet. It will run off anything with a web broser, like an ipad, smartphone. The 990 is cool because it has many things built into 1. Tward the end of summer Kenwood is goung to open up the 990 to apps, since it is andriod based. You will be able to run any app off the 990, really cool.

The fact that it's WIFI is kinda holding me back from doing it, but I probbably will. Anyone want an inTOUCH max, LOL.

Chuck,

Where did you mount the cells on your Mk 3?

I have the 3 cell system in production for my Mk 4 and am considering the following locations:

Front Powercell: Inside of Driver's Side F Panel
MasterCell: Inside Glove Box
Rear Powercell: Trunk in a box installed on thr Passenger side Wall

1. Does this make sense from your experience?

2. The 3 cell instructions seem to indicate that CAN cable has to be installed starting at the master thru to the furthest power cell. This would mean under my proposed locations I would need a fairly long CAN cable to go from the glove compartment aft to the trunk and then loop forward to the DS F-Panel for termination. Does the kit include enough cable to do this?

If the CAN wire can wire can be installed with the master in the middle it would make it easier. I would only have one end going to the rear and one going forward.

3. Can you provide any photos of the dash hook ups?

Thanks Carl

The data cable for a 3 cell has connection to master in the middle with the two power cells at each end... Watch this video I got link form Jay for what comes in box.

Pulled the trigger on the 3 cell with inLink and inMotion modules. Will likely add the inTouchNET later on once i nail down the stereo system up here in Canada at a decent price.

Not cheap but i believe the perfect set up. Jay Harris is a prince. The guy returns every message and answers every question literally within minutes and then follows up by phone. Unreal customer service mentality there. If the product is half as good it will be worth the doe.

Interesting, Jay linked my build page to his power blog
