I had a big day, lowering her down to the ground. Lower and lower.....
Wow. She looks low and wide after looking at her on jack stands for 16 months.

She is a roller. I might even push her outside now that it stopped raining. Do you think my wife will push me up and down the driveway a few times?

Thanks to the people here and Factory Five for helping me get this far! I can't believe how excited I am about a car with no body or engine.

Congrats. I'm waiting on that day as well. I'm all ready to do it, but I need to buy the wheels.

That is awesome. On the day we lowered the MKIV down, it sat so low that at first we thought we'd done something wrong. We checked to see if we had the shocks in upside down, or if we had done something wrong on the suspension. Of course, it was all correct, but after several months of having it much on the stands, it just didn't look right. The funny thing is, just last week a friend in town who is also building a MKIV, called me with some panic in his voice asking me to come over and look at his car. They'd just lowered it onto the ground for the first time and he was positive they'd done something wrong because it was sitting so low! I'm guessing we all have this experience. We should come up with a name for it!

Looks great and congrats! Each stage is that much better, and that much closer to making noise and drawing black lines on the pavement!

Congratulations, looking real good. Your wife may push you down the driveway, but I doubt she'll push you back up.

Looks great! What's the mod on the Cobra Earl vent kit above the driver footbox?

Avalanche325,

Can you share the driver side Cobra Earl mod you made? I'm about to install the body and really like what you have done.

Congrats, she looks great. I like her shoes too-- very nice!

I think your wife is obligated to push you up and down the driveway a few times and vice versa! After all this hard work, I think it's the least you all can do for each other! Then you also need someone else to make loud engine noises!!

Great milestone, and thanks for sharing!

Regards,

Steve

Congrats on your milestone, it's a great feeling!

What's your plan and timeline for installing the motor and first start? (each step brings you closer!)

I had already run my brake lines right where most people put the vent. The only place that there was any room was on top, but there was no way the hose would make the bend. I have the stiffer hoses. I just made a little plenum box so the hose could feed in from the front to keep everything under the body. I cut the front of the plastic tube part of the blast gate out to let the air flow straight in.

I have a little delay on the motor. I am having custom pistons made by Wiseco. They put Windsor reliefs on the tops, but I am using Trick Flow heads. So I am waiting for a new set, then the final honing can be done on the block. I am doing a DIY kit through Fordstrokers.com, so they are doing my machine work and I am doing the assembly. I am hoping to have the engine parts arrive in 2-3 weeks, and the engine in sometime in August. So first start in Aug / Sept.

Then it will be sandpaper time.
