I know, I know... you won't hear the audio while you're driving. But I will spend time just parked while people gawk and I need some jammin' tunes.

I'd like to know how/where you mounted your kick bass? I'm assuming in the trunk. What model/brand? How did you mount it?

Pics please.

Thanks.

Just a word of caution. 1st go ahead and install the stereo. However, my experience is at a show or local cruisin, most other owners sitting there willo not appreciate the music.

Exactly. Been to a lot of cruises and shows over the past couple of years. Almost never do guys have music playing from their cars. Don't think it would be appreciated. Especially to the level a kick bass would be effective. Besides, even the smallest around here have DJ's with music and etc. going on.

jakester, I am with you! I just could not see spending 40k+ on my project and not having any tunes. My MK4 is almost done and I will try and get some pics of my system when I get back in town. I used a console from Whtibys and went with a Sony doubledin gps head unit, 2 Kicker 6x9's behind the seats (kinda in the middle of the back wall), 2 small kicker speakers mounted on each side of the console by the head unit, and 1 10" kicker sub in the trunk. There are 2 small Kicker amps located in the trunk. The whole car was covered in Fatmat. The stereo sounds awesome when the car is off. I only have driven it maybe 5 miles or so, you can hear it fine while driving but engine and wind noise obviously takes a toll on the quality sound, just like my boat does and I would NEVER own a boat without a stereo:cool: Heck, I even turn up the tunes now while working on the car!!

I know it's not an FFR, but I'll be happy to post some pics of the new stereo I just installed in my wife's '67 Camaro. Her car is very original/stock looking, so she wanted to keep everything as invisible as possible. The head unit is one that looks identical to a factory am/fm radio (not one of those that is just close) and puts out 180 watts, and is i-pod/sat compatible. It's connected to speakers hidden under the dash (in enclosures called Versa-Pods), a modified dash-top speaker with a pair of tweeters in it, and a pair of self-contained (and removeable via quick-disconnect jacks) three-way speakers on the rear floor under the front seats. Tying it all together and giving some bass to the music is a small subwoofer (6.5") in a carpeted box and a 500 watt amp hidden behind the spare tire. The subwoofer is very compact, but provides phenomenal sound, particularly given the challenges of an open car and the tiny speakers she had to go with in order to keep everything hidden.

Considering the limitations, the system in her car is probably similar to something that would work in the FFR roadster. Everything was off-the-shelf from Crutchfield, too, except for the actual radio head unit.

An IPhone with ear bud works for tunes on the road. People want to hear the thump thump of your 8 cylinders, not a stereo IMO

Think you need a 'ricer' instead.

I gotta say that I agree with others... no stereo for my FFR. But, if you're bent on getting one, here are some pics of the system I described above that we just put into my wife's '67 Camaro. The subwoofer and amp are very compact and hide reasonably well in her trunk (subwoofer is made by JL Audio and the amp is from Kicker) - I'm guessing that these would fit very nicely in the FFR trunk.

Here's the head unit... not something for the FFR, but it's cool nonetheless as it's an am/fm/ipod/sat unit with 180 watts:

Here's the hidden speaker in the front - it's a 4" in the "Versa-Pod" enclosure:

Rear speaker with quick disconnect on the floor:

Ditto that! You don't want to anger your fellow gearheads and "jammin" will do that

From what I was told, that can also get you a ticket in my state.
