I'm interested in knowing how the seats mount. I sold my stock seats as they're heavy, not well bolstered, and tall. I'm planning on aftermarket seats and currently looking at OMP TRS or Bimarco Futura. I have test sat in both and like them both, though leaning more towards the Bimarco.

So far I'm looking at $750+ for seats, then $180 for side mount brackets. If I need seat mounts, those are another $280 for a pair (not including sliders). If the stock seats bolt direclty in, I'll need the mounts. If FFR supplies different brackets to mount the seat, I can probably skip the $280 for the mounts.

I've looked through the photos of the 'production' 818 frame, but there isn't a clear indicator. I'm pretty sure the base 818S will accommodate stock WRX seats and sliders, but I can't tell from pictures whether those accommodations will be bolt-in brackets or welded to the frame.

I would think for safety reasons, they would be welded from FFR?

When you get the call, they will ask you what year your donor seats came from so they supply the correct brackets. This is what they asked me when I got my call ;) They are not welded in. I had already sold my stock seats since the air bag was deployed on it and they were the wrong color...

Hmmm. So does that preclude switching seats later? If they aren't welded in, I assume you could change out the bracket...

OR......you could just make new ones or modify the ones you have. If you go after market seats, say, like the Momo Starter seat...you will have to modify or build you're own brackets.

This works for me, i'll just tell them 05, and when I switch to aftermarket seats i'll make sure to get the brackets for that year. I plan on using sliders and side mounts eventually to drop it low as possible. I just wont have an extra $1500 for seats for a few months.

Speaking of seats- I think I'm going to have a hard time getting this one back once the 818R shows up.....

LOL- I cant right side it.

I like this. If it all bolts in, I can make (or modify) brackets to fit and likely save $280 (and spend it elsewhere).

I bought new seats for my roadster and I ordered brackets from one of the vendors on FFcars.BREEZE
they just used heavy rivets with a heavy plate to accommodate the seat. Many after-market seats have a standard bolt pattern.
I riveted the plate to the frame. When I purchased the seats, they offered "standard" brackets also. It was an option to use sliders, but the height would change with those.
This is a very strong way to mount up as the rivets were not only stainless , but large. You could use bolts, but not needed.
Treves is right. this is not an issue
I can pull both seats out in just 5 minutes
