View Full Version : EFI Fuel Pressure?

With all the stories of modern fuels eating their way through traditional fiber-reinforced rubber fuel hoses and resulting car fires, I would like to install Aeroquip-type teflon-based threaded hoses on my car (EEC-IV EFI), but I'm not sure whether the fittings, especially the ones using hard lines with flared ends can handle the pressure. The all seem to post pressure limits of 40-60 psi if I recall.

Anybody know what gives here? Has anybody switched to more modern fuel-proof lines?

Thanks!

I run TFT lines from fuel cell all the way to fuel rail, -AN6 lines, no rubber or hard lines

I run app 39 psi for my system that is like yours. So I run about 2 ft of rubber hose in the rear and about 6 inches in front between the hard lines provided in the kit. I double flared them and double clamp with premium hose clamps. The important thing is to get the right rated hose for the application (e.g. NAPA EFI rated hose). When I go to a higher volume pump I will upgrade the system to handle that 50+ psi depending on the tuning needs. I think the greatest risk of running an EFI system is when the pressure exceeds the design of the system resulting in lines popping off or low pressure rated hose splitting. IMO, WEK.

I used hard lines connected to Aeroquip push-lock hose and fittings for my entire fuel system. Haven't had any leaks in the 5 years it's been on the road.
