I fabbed a cover/shroud for the roadster for looks and improve the airflow over the radiator and prevent engine bay heat from spilling over the radiator when standing still. I think it is making a difference cooling wise (about 3 to 5 degrees at different cruising speeds) and it does clean up and finish the front of the engine bay, I think. I used a pretty thick peice of aluminum that I could just barely bend in my HF break. Thankfully, the break didn't break and it turned out nicely. I attached it with 4 3/16 rivets and siliconed the parabolic curve (front of peice) to the body. So now it's on to the lower aluminum radiator peice from the kit which I don't like at all.

It was touch and go for the fitting as it can only be installed thru the nose of the body. It's 24 inches wide and about 13.5 inches front to back with a primary bend at 3.5 inches from back that goes over the 3/4 inch tubing at 45 degrees and a secondary bend that I wanted for looks mostly but turned out to be necessary. It is 1 inch from back and is only about 8 degrees. However, the peice would not clear the hood hinges without putting that bend in. After that it slipped in and out easily but close. I used a cardboard template to create the right curve against the body. It only took a couple of trys. Enjoyed the little project as it turned out as I had it pictured in my head. Thanks, WEK.:cool:

Looks great. I have one on my car (from Breeze) and think it looks great and does help with cooling a bit.

If it's not too much work, take yours out, sand it a bit and hit it with some flat black spray paint. It helps it disappear and gives it a nice finished look.

The one from breeze has slots cut for the Breeze Traditional Hood Hinge kit, how did you avoid that? (does it slide under the FFR hinges?)
I like the aluminum look that you achieved (the Breeze version is painted black).

I'm trying to figure out what you riveted it to on the top(?)

Nice job! (the rad cowl is on my list-of things-to-do)

Yes, it did slide under the FFR hinges but just barely with the added curve of the second bend I mentioned above. The cover is riveted to the 3/4 inch cross radiator support. I think using the 1/8 inch alum helped to make the measuring of this easier and it gives it a much more solid feel (no flexing). Also, the silicone bead on the front on the body.

Thanks, Dan. I liked the Breeze cowl but it wouldn't have covered the whole top of the rad like I wanted. I may go for the black aluminum look on my next build.

WEK.

Or . . . paint it.

Showoff! No really, that looks great. I could still paint it the body color when that happens. Thinking team stripe which goes right across that area. Hummm....

See you later, Pete. WEK.
