I am about to order a set of wheels for my MK3.1 with custom backspacing. I am running '94 front spindles, Fortes LCA's on the front and a 3link in the rear with a '93 axle with Fortes disc brake setup and C@bra calipers all around. My question is what would be the optimum backspacing that will fill the wheel wells yet not rub? The front wheels will be 17x8 and the rears will be 17x10 not 17x10.5. Thank you Chris

Check out the specs on FF's fake Halibrands. American Muscle also has offset and backspace specs on their wheels.

17x8 front wheels would run a 5.5 in. backspace with a 245 or 255 tire
17x10 rear wheels would be a 6.25 backspace with a 275 (if you are trying to squeeze a 315 on a 10" rim then it would be 6.5 in.)
