In April I got my MK4 inspected by the state of New Hampshire and was issued a VIN. I registered the car with no problem. 2 weeks later, I got a letter from the State of NH saying that the paper that Factory Five printed the certificate of origin on is unacceptable because it lacks water mark and other "Safety Features" and they deemed it to be a "copy". I called FFR and spoke with Sally Bean. She said that others have had no problem in NH but she would look into it. Haven't heard a word since and still can't get a title. Has anyone else run into this problem in NH? By the way, NH won't return the "copy" to me.

Moved this to the Tech forum so FFR will be sure to see it...

Keep bugging them. FFR is horrible about returning emails or calls.
Find NH and take a look through this information (http://www.bipac.net/page.asp?content=tag_title_toolbox&g=SEMAGA).
This will at least give you some background information and hopefully some ammunition.

I think NH law is well meaning in that the tenant of starting with an original document is good but that's where the wheels fell off of the process. They will most likely need a written verification from FFR now that it has gone this deep into the process. When I went to my MVD (more than once), each time there was a different story. I got mine "registered" but with the wrong year so I went back the next day and spent more time until they reissued the title. BTW, I didn't get my cert of origin back but they did give me a copy. I think you got caught in an anti fraud step in the process that probably would have passed thru the system on any other day. Good luck, WEK.

Hi Jaljr1 - I think we may have spoken in the meantime or somehow through my discussions with Sally - I'm not terribly familiar with NH laws, but I think the best I can do to help is to try and find you a local contact in NH and give them your contact information & background of your problem. Otherwise, I think you're best off posting in a regional area that will get more visibility by others near to you.
