I wasn't sure where to put this thread, so I just put it here.
I didn't want to make a update in each Major forum.
Ok let me see if I can get this right, so it makes sense ....lol
Going to have to go back to the past some for this. Way back in the mid to late '70s I fell in love with the '32-'34 Ford hot rods and the '55 & '57 chevy hot rods. My all time american car is the '63 vette split window. In the late '70s I used to cruise on Woodward Ave a lot, nothing like it is today. There used to be real drag racing going on, and yes hiding from the cops all the time....lol.
Ok anyhoot! now back to the present.
My choices in FFR cars Used to be: 65 coupe, 33 hot rod, toss up between GTM & 818.
Now my choices are: 33 Hot Rod, 65 Coupe, toss up between GTM & 818.
So by now you are wondering........so what is my point.....lol
Well now that the 33 Hot Rod is now my 1st choice (see above about my love for '32-'34 fords early on)
it has a direct bearing on the direction I plan on going with my designs, graphics etc.
I know I put up albums for all the FFR cars (except the roadster) for my design ideas etc. For right now most of the design work on the GTM and 65 Coupe is going on the back burner. I will get to it some day I hope.
I plan on concentrating my Design and Graphics efforts mostly to '33 hot rod and 818 and special graphics. The 818 stuff will mostly be with upgrades and through direction from Dave Smith and FFR (nothing official as of right now).
As far as the '33 Hot Rod for design ideas, I have tons of stuff I plan on working on. Not just Body mod.s, but new alt body designs based on the 33 Chassis. Frame mod.s for different body designs, bumpers/nerf bars for those who have to have them, this would include frame rail designs for front bumpers/nerf bars as well as frame mod.s for the rear for bumpers/nerf bars and for new body mod.s and alt bodies. Interior designs, Exhaust designs, lighting designs. Paint scheme color ideas. Too much to really list here.
I would also like to figure out a way to share my Auto Bookmarks since I have in the 1,000s. What ever you are looking for, more then likely I have it bookmarked. From Engine, drivetrain, body, electrical, exhaust etc. I have. All categorized in Folders and Sub Folders. So if somebody knows a way I can share all of those for people to upload and add to their bookmarks, let me know :) I think it would help a lot of people from having to do a lot of searching.
Sorry for being so long winded. Hope this makes sense:)

I knew I forgot some stuff......lol
I forgot to mention. The main reason I decided to pursue this direction, is from FFR's most popular cars are the Roadster, 33 Hot Rod and soon to be the 818.
Since I have always loved the '32-'34 hot rods, the FFR 33 Hot Rod has an extreme amount of potential for customizing. There for I see a need for coming up with those ideas and hopefully in some way making it easier for people to do that customizing. This would include the 818 as well.
My vision I would like to see happen is starting some kind of business in the future to actually design, fabricate some of these ideas, make molds, parts etc. I would also like to come up with some kind of site for other designers, fabricators who are small but would like to get their stuff out there all in one place, with each having their own section within that web site, with their own shopping cart etc.

Interior stuff will mostly be design themes, unless I can get some really good interior pictures.
David any paint scheme ideas you can share?
Just Ideas in my head right now, most of them are more along the lines of old school thinking, like scallops, two tones, flames etc. I was meaning more along the lines of colors more then actual paint schemes, paint schemes with the 33 are pretty much endless. Once I start rolling on the 33 stuff again, I will more then likely put out some paint schemes.

The 33 as a first choice makes perfect sense :)
Now give us a sedan delivery and a retro pick-up on that chassis, Dave S. did admit to thinking a couple more bodies would be cool.
I've also been hoping for a roll pan that goes out and blends with the rear edge of the full fender package. I didn't see any of your earlier roll pans go out like that.

Interesting that you mentioned a retro pickup. I have a Roadster/Coupe pickup design I have in mind to use on the 33 chassis. I actually do have a rear roll pan idea that does go out and blends with the fenders (simular to th 34 gas tank cover, only not as large). Also an extention downward of the center area that goes all the way across through the fenders. Once I get going again those are some of the ones I plan on doing first before I get to the alt bodies and frame mod.s etc.

David, very exciting news. I've was hoping a roadster pickup version of the hotrod would be a natural extention for that design. It would make going to home depot an experience. LOL. I was saving for a '33 till the anouncement of the 818, now I might have to have three FFR's the 818, a '33, and a '33 pickup "rat rod". How am I going to get this passed the one who must be obeyed. LOL.

Yea, so true. At the moment the 818 is the direction I'll probably go. It has just about every feature I could want, and more affordable too. The "swatch watch" approach of the 818 is a fantastic idea, yet the Hot Rod is infinitly customizable and a pickup version would be very tempting to say the least. If only I could afford both. Hey the kids don't need an inheritance. LOL.

My choices are based on what I like overall and what is possible. Now if it came down to a money, with out a doubt I would choose the 818, best bang for the buck! The 818 like you said and many of us have said, including Dave Smith & FFR's vision, the 818 having so much potential. The way I see it, is if the 33 hot rod came out the same time the Roadster did, I wouldn't be surprised if the 33 out sold the Roadster.
That's why I plan on working on design ideas for both the 33 Hot Rod and the 818. The potential.

I think your point is right on. The best bang for the buck is the 818 hands down, 20k vs 30k+. As far as the 33 out selling the Roadster, you have a strong point, and going foward the 818 will definitly be FFR's best seller with the 33 2nd with the Roadster and GTM falling behind. I suspect, and maybe it's to early to tell if the 818 will eat into GTM sales.

Hard to tell if the 818 will eat into the GTM sales at this point, but it just may do that considering another point you just made me think of, and that is from a racing point. I think the 818 is going to in time get it's own racing series like the roadster did. I wouldn't even be surprised if the 818 got a racing series in both NASA and SCCA. Heck the Miata got it's own series......lol and at the price point for doing a very good race car, the 818 would by far out do the miata, talk about performance!

Yea no kidding, Dave Smith's name will be as well known as Jack Roush or any of the big names in motorsports.

Hi Vman,
I think the 818 is going to win sales away from competitors such as Radical:
Aerodynamic downforce lets cars like those from Radical get 2.5 G lateral cornering G's (that will work the neck muscles). The new Radical RXC Lemans Style street/track car is a 900 kg coupe with 380bhp @ 6750rpm and 320lb ft @ 4250rpm. This seems within shooting range for the 818 with a removable hardtop, more aero downforce, full track tires when on the track, traction control and a reliable WRX 350 WHP build. Factory Five is doing more aerodynamics testing right now. WOW!!!!
And the 818 can be built for MUCH LESS than the RXC Prices starting at $160K - $200K + frt / duty
Of course your removable top design would throw the competition over the edge. My 818 build starts this fall. I can't wait. Myabe some of your other mods will find their way into the 818 as well. Keep up the great work!

Cheers!
