Hello all.

A Corvette C6 Z06 (7.0/427 V8, LS7) with a 6-speed T56 can achieve 30-31 MPG while coasting on the highway.
Seeing as the F5 GTM is lighter than the Corvette, and more aerodynamic, but only has a 5-speed G50 gearbox, what realistic fuel economy would you get on the highway?
25 MPG? If you somehow put a 6-speed in a F5 GTM with tall gearing, could you achieve 30 MPG?

Thanks.

I think that Factory Five said that the Red LS7 GTM was getting somewhere in the range of 26 mpg. But you hit it dead on when you mentioned the gearbox... It really depends on the cruise gearing. The Porsche boxes can get you close if you swap a couple of the gear sets, but they still aren't quite as tall as the Corvette 5th & 6th gears. But in my oppinion, if you can get 26 mpg in a car like this, that has so much power (even with a stock engine), I don't thing you can go wrong. You may have to nurse it a little (if that's possible) in order to get the highest possible gas mileage, but I think it's doable.

Agreed - it'll depend greatly on the gearing and on how hard you step on the pedal, but you should be able to configure the drivetrain in such a way that you can get some pretty good mileage. Have to keep the revs way down on the highway!
