I've custom made a couple of aluminum pieces that will be attached to the body. For example, I made 2 new pieces to go around the window frame and cover the gap. However, I've been looking for some material to use as a gasket to go between these and the painted body, but am sort of striking out. Can't believe I'm the first guy to make something like this who needs a gasket of some sort. Can you provide recommendations on what I can use to cut a gasket out of? Thanks

Bicycle inner tube is what I've used. Just make sure you buy the tubes without the sealing slime inside....(don't ask how I know.)

I remember reading about some guys using the plastic off of a milk carton. Cut from a flat side and clean it well.

If you need something thicker (around 1/8" or so), try black rubber pipe patch material... usually available at any hardware store or in the plumbing department of big-box places.

Perfect. Thanks guys. I ordered the 4-pack from Summit. Figured that one of the included sheets would give me what I need. I'll keep my eyes open for the other stuff as well!

I recommend neoprene for the body exterior. 9013K82 Ultra-Strength Neoprene Rubber Plain Back, 1/8" Thick, 6" X 6" from McMaster is the same thickness and hardness as the windshield gasket. So when you mount the plate around the windshield post with this under it, the height matches perfectly.
