Yes, 390 will be good. Add some 427 chrome pent roof valve covers and you'll fool most people

Now do you think 6 speed or 5 speed. And what gear should I use. With the big block?

Transmission and rear gear choice depends on many factors such as intended use of the car, engine redline, engine performance characteristics, and rear end type. If you plan to use a solid axle rear, you can not use a 6-spd transmission because the driveshaft is too short and will bind. Answer these questions and we can give you a better answer

A T5 with its 2.94 1st gear is a good choice. Add some 3.55 or 3.77 gears and you're good to go

A T-5 w/ a 390 sounds real marginal to me. I would sell it and upgrade to a TKO500 at least. Call Mike Forte and get his opinion. He will steer you right and not sell you something you don't need.

'03 Mustang Cobra IRS is different than the T-Bird.

To use a Cobra IRS, you'll need to have the hubs pressed onto T-Bird knuckles and have the drive shafts shortened. You may also need to modify the brake caliper brackets. That is what my research tells me.

It's okay I scored a '94 cougar v-8 hub to hub to driveshaft for 500.00. Is it wise to resource parts now before I get the kit
