Insurance costs are going to be pretty variable depending on your location (state), your driving record, how much you want to insure for, etc. What I can say is this -- most "regular" auto insurance companies won't touch these cars. Mine wouldn't. You will need to get some type of specialty car insurance, and usually it's for a named value. I live in one of the most expensive states for insurance (Michigan) because of no-fault. I used Robbin at Midwest Classic (a forum vendor) and it's around $600 per year, including occasional driving to work, roadside assistance, etc. Give him a call and he can give you options, assuming he can write policies in your state. He can do most but not all. Good luck!

I went with Midwest as well. Robin and Norma are a great team to work with during this process. AZ is also no fault but I got mine for under $300 but it is not with full value since I am stil in gelcoat (verifying what edwardb said). The policy is "fun" trips only. That is you don't use it as your DD and you don't do routine errands in it. You must also so proof of a real DD on your other policy. But the rest of the coverage is as good as my other cars. I have a $6000 mile yearly limit. When I have done paint/bodywork, I will adjust the value which is commonly done. BTW, another benefit is that even if your state screws up your registration or it was registered before you had it with some problems concerning emission, the classic car insurance can get you past that issue. Good luck with yours. WEK.

Note: I went through about 10 queries with various agencies before going to the website for Midwest. You get a pretty good feeling about being there when you hear "Hey Little Cobra" in the background!

You may want to first ask these questions of your daily driver insurer. Sometimes they will surprise you by being very resonable re rates, and have no restrictions on annual mileage, etc. At least give them a shot at it. Shop around. Having said that, you can't go wrong with folks like Midwest.
