I expect to be there (sans coupe) and will look you up.

I'm bringing along a blowup I made of Peter Brock's pencil sketches of the coupe to try to get it autographed. Anybody else have stuff they'll try to get signed?

Garry asked Peter if he would mind coming over to the FFR Coupes for a photo opportunity and to sign my dash which he graciously did. I never imagined that he would be able to spend so much time going over the car features with me like he did, though to me being a little "star struck I guess" it was kind of a blur. With a keen eye for details he brought up the CSX2601 abbreviation miss spell of ignition on the switch console, he noticed the cleco I was using to hold the Russ Thompson 1/4 window close and quickly noticed the aluminum that I had Ron Randall of Metal-morphous apply to the ceiling. In the second video you can see Pete also picking up on how we rounded the top of the side fender opening in order to remain faithful to CSX2601. He asked about the motor and I think he was a little surprised to learn that we had a more modern Modular 4.6 DOHC. Some of you may recall that Peter himself has also moved from a Windsor based motor to an LS motor in his Superformance Coupe.
It would have been nice if I had the Gopro going inside to capture the conversation as well but here is a little clip. As he is folding himself up to fit inside the car you can hear someone joking that he should have designed the roofline higher. :) Thank you again so very much Mr. Brock!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to thank Factory Five, but more importantly Gary Bopp and Rick (Rick8928) for letting me share in on their spot light by squeezing in between them at FFR's display booth even though I had my turn at the honor last year.
I really felt like I already knew Gary from reading his threads on the forum... but believe it or not, he is even nicer and his Coupe looks even better in person. Don't tell Tawnee but he even has me rethinking carpet for my Coupe. I'm getting to know Rick in reverse order... while we didn't get a chance to talk all that much, when I got home I searched and read your build threads on the forum and enjoyed your first start video. Thanks again for the RainX it definitely helped for the ride home.
I was hoping for a bigger turnout, I only counted about a half dozen Cobras and 1 GTM in the Speedster/Spyder dominated show field. And besides our two FFR Coupes there was only 1 Superformance/Brock Coupe.
Peter and Gayle Brock's attendance and presentation has to be the highlight of the trip and once I sort things out I should have more to share on this.

Tim,

Congratulations on a great trip to Carlisle. I met you and your wife last year and your keen interest and enthusiasm was one of the reasons I selected FFR for my kit.

Thanks, Carl

Peter Brock is a first class guy. I was privileged to spend some time with him discussing the 427 "Super Coupe" one time.

Really enjoyed Carlisle this year, mostly because of the people there. Thanks to Garry and Mark for sharing some of their knowledge with me at the booth, to Tim and Garry for bringing working models that I tried to photograph for details and to not put too many fingerprints upon, and to Dan for letting me know I was missing a part that needs to be shipped. Peter Brock's talk about the original coupe design and build was riveting (sorry), and he and his wife really are as friendly and gracious as everyone says.

It was a hoot to be in the booth, talking to folks and either sharing tips with current builders or trying to convince fence sitters to take the plunge and "just do it". The FFR guys (and Mark Dougherty and son Brandon) were a lot of fun to hang with. Garry, Tim and their cars were great. Pete Brock's seminar on the birth of the Daytona coupe was really interesting-a lot of the stuff he discussed is public info and seen before, but he highlighted how this was the end of the era where a car's significant design completion was in the hands of the mechanics. In the Daytona's case, Remington solved the high speed stability issues in a matter of hours using tin snips, sheet metal from an old toolbox, and some rivets. "Done!"

Gotta say - that 818 is looking pretty spiffy. Damn it!!

Have to agree with all that has been said about Pete Brock, he is the man. I really like how he took the time to make everyone that he talk too feel very welcome. Plus he has a great wife that is fun to talk too also. Had a great time and glad that Factory Five made the show, and Rick you still can build an 818 there's no rule saying that you can only have one Factory Five
