Congrats... it was about a year ago that I pulled the trigger on ordering mine.. now I'm less than 10 days for being finished! While VERY excited to be done... I'm also a little sad to be almost done. Enjoy the journey of building your car, takes lots of pictures, and get to know the people on this forum who share your hobby! All my best

That's always big news to us!!!

Give us some details. What engine, suspension, options, etc.

I am 16 months into my build. I just finished my other than engine bay wiring. I am loving it.

Jason at FFR, who was awesome to deal with, gave me a completion date of June 15th. I need to contact Stewart Transport today to set up a pick up time.

My father and I are building this one along with my two nephews, who do not have much mechanical experience. Hoping this will be a good learning experience for them. They are both enrolled in next weekend's build school also.

Since this is our first build, we aren't getting too crazy. We are going to start out with a stock 5.0L that we are freshening up, T5 5 speed, and 8.8 rear axle. Don't want to build something with too much horsepower...nephews (or me) might get into trouble!

I'm hoping this wil be a great family project, and we will move on to another one.

I will keep all of you posted on our progress.

That is huge news. I remember the day I ordered my kit almost like it was yesterday. Mark Dougherty took the call and the rest was history.

No regrets

Congratulations and have fun with it

I enjoy your dad coming by my shop to check out my roadster with his questions and stories. It's awsome that after fifty something years owning mopar and ford dealerships you still have the hot rod roadster he built at nineteen, unrestored in original condition. He is stoked to start this build with you and his grandsons. The day you order is good - home in your garage is better then its parts and a project once you drive it as a go cart a car comes to life and it feels pretty special. There are some great lifetime memories coming for your family! Build on, Warren

Thanks from all of us at FFR. This community is simply amazing and the company is a reflection of it and vice-versa. Tomorrow Jim (Dir of R&D) is scheduled to be with his new wife as she delivers a new baby boy! Your project is a birth of another kind! I wish you the best of luck on this path. May you enjoy the family time and build stories that will live in your family for a long long time! I LOVE this job and am deeply grateful for the trust you've placed in the entire crew at Factory Five. Congrats and thanks again!

Congratulations! I am at the beginning of the build process and have loved every minute of the process including dealing with Factory Five and other vendors that support the building of these cars.

There are so many resources devoted to these cars that you will find extremely useful. Another resource I suggest immediately ordering is D. Brian Smith's book, How to Build Cobra Kit Cars. Brian has included a lot of great photos in addition to the insightful words that really help fill in the gaps.

My Build Thread is http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?9583-Carl-s-Mk-4-Roadster-Build

Since really getting started April 8th, I have found that we are not building a replica or a kit car, but really a "custom" car.

Congratulations,

Carl

We heard no word of this new build project. Respecting family I do believe it happened without seeing baby pictures. My prayers for a healthy baby and mom. Congrats and best wishes, Warren

Thanks everyone for all your words of encouragement. Dave, please pass on my family's congratulations to Jim and his wife.

My father and I have been involved in both the automobile retail business and the car hobby all of our lives. My 2 nephews, both in thier twenties, are new to the hobby. I am looking forward to seeing them learn some mechanical skills during this build.

I belong to severel different forums that cover Fords, Mustangs, and Hot Rods. This is by far the most informative and friendly of all of them!

My order is about a week behind yours so I know what you mean about anticipation.

Harold - I just noticed you're in Peru, IL. I'm just up Rt.71 and 47 from you - I'm working on my build at Aurora Airport in Sugar Grove. PM me if the anticipation gets to be too much for the four of you and you can take a ride up to check out the build. I'm done with the chassis (except wiring) and I'm doing bodywork myself. Even though the go-kart isn't wired, it does have plug wires and I can fire it up for you guys.

Harold, won't be long now, look forward to the delivery photos, as David B said, delivery / pickup is one of the most exciting days ever, I remember mine vividly. The whole build is a roller coaster filled with milestones of joy and excitment, there are hurdles for sure, your building a car, but the peaks far outweigh the valleys and as long as you keep an open mind and positive attitude will have a heck of a good time.

Just checking in on the forum. Guys are on the road with the Power Tour, a tropical storm is coming down on their head, we've got crazy busy work for the Open House prep and there are a million things that need attention... and I thought to myself, All of these great things are because one person decides to pay us for our craft. Everyone here and everything we do is really only for one reason. The company that forgets what matters most won't live long and I'm excited to have the chance to build your car and look forward to reading about your adventure!

Way to go! Doesn't it feel great! There are many milestones in our lives, but one of the most memorable will be the day you took the plunge... and ordered your kit.
Enjoy the ride. I just picked my kit up a month ago and am still grinning ear to ear.

Got Our MKIV Roadster Kit!!!! It actually came in last week. Been busy with inventory and organizing everything. I have a ton of pictures allready, but can't load them because the file size is too big. Does anyone have a suggestion how to re-size them so I can upload them? Thanks, Harold

Try a photo hosing site like Photobucket. It's free. Then you just put pointers in your post.

Second photobucket. Once you pic is there they have four choices for links. you just pic the one for forums and it is all handled. And, if you have a half decent phone, use it. So easy to pull out of your pocket. After you are familiar w/ photobucket, you can take a cell pic and have it on here in maybe three minutes.
