I've always liked the Fiat X1/9. Partly because I used to own one and I've been wathc some old 70's movies. It's a fun little care with classic styling. The wedge shaped two seater with mid-eninge, removable roof, pop up headlights. The 70's styling would have to be updated with ground effects and scoops, but otherwise it's a classic. Did I say classic?

If only they didn't rust so well.

I can't remember the last time I saw one in Michigan.

A wonderful and yes classic design.

Well the x1/9 started like this, no top, no doors! History repeating?

I loved those Fiats X1/9 as they handle much like a Ferrari but with a 1.5L had not much to write home about. The other fault was that there was no room for anyone taller than 5'10", hopefully the 818 should take care of those issues and if comes as a Targa with the top stored in front even better.

Here in PR it rains a lot and it is always 88F+ so an A/C will be much appreciated.

I doubt it will come with A/C but you can add it yourself pretty easy, I saw this conversation in another thread and the solution seems to be Vintage Air http://www.vintageair.com/Universalapps1.asp

I've never seen the X1/9 concept. Other than the windshield and the lights, the basic lines made the transition to production car very nicely.

My sister had on for a while. I worked on it - alot! Fun, fun, fun, even as underpowered as it was. And the top design was ingenious.

Little known X1/9 fact:

It was developed with the North American market as a target. During that time the government was considering a 50(?) MPH crash test. The X1/9 was designed with that in mind, hence the "picket fence" bumpers on the '75-'80(?) models. For it's time and size, it is one of the safest cars you could buy. That's also why it's heavy for it's size (and HP).
